PRESS RELEASE: 22/02/2005

I can see clearly now the glasses have gone!

Inition equip new Gizmondo store

Inition have supplied the world’s first glasses-free 3D video wall including bespoke stereoscopic content for the flagship Gizmondo store in central London.

Gizmondo is the ultimate multi-entertainment handheld, featuring an arsenal of functionality like gaming, messaging, music and movie playback, a digital camera, and GPS – which can be used for satellite navigation, location-based services, even gaming.

The sleek Regent Street store, opposite Hamley’s toy shop, boasts a giant video wall featuring spinning and rotating monochrome 3D images which leap out at you in 1280 x 768 resolution - without the usual need for unwieldy 3D eyewear.

Inition provided the store with 9 SynthaGram 40” autostereoscopic displays for the 3 by 3 tiled video wall. The StereoGraphics SynthaGram is an exceptionally clear, bright and crisp 3D monitor. It is ideal for public places, like the Gizmondo store, because it has wide viewing angles and requires no special lighting.

"We are delighted to provide the technology for this exciting endeavor at the Gizmondo flagship store," said Founder and Chief Technology Officer Lenny Lipton for StereoGraphics. "3D visual displays hold tremendous promise for the marketing and advertising industries."
Inition’s team of dedicated 3D artists produced a screen specific stereoscopic animation of the Gizmondo unit and logo for the video wall. Inition also supplied and installed the playback system - a rack of 9 computers – which drives the animation.

“This is important breakthrough for 3D technology and we are proud to be at the forefront,” said Stuart Cupit, MD Inition.
